Indiana Historical Society Colorful Brunch Wedding // Stephanie & Alan
BRUNCH, MIMOSAS, PAPER CRANES, PINK HAIR, AND CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY
Stephanie + Alan had all of the makings for a perfectly awesome offbeat wedding when they got hitched in a short but sweet ceremony at the Indiana Historical Society. They decided early on they didn't want a traditional wedding and that what they really wanted was friends and family to gather with them while they tied the knot and then eat some breakfast!
Stephanie and Alan decided that with their wedding day they were going to ditch all of the things they hated about weddings as guests and make a day that's completely their own. Intimate guest lists? Sure! Walking each other down the aisle?! Heck yeah! No formal reception festivities? Why not?! Their day was sweet and simple and I really felt it fit their personalities. It was pretty great. Plus, did I mention... brunch?!
Stephanie looked stunning in all of her details. Blue lacy TOMs, awesome earrings from Rent The Runway, and an amazing Simone Carvalli dress from Marie Gabriel Bridal Couture. And Alan looked pretty handsome too with his gray tux from DC Tux. Lookin' sharp. :)
Seriously, this dress. OMG. Plus, did I mention, PINK HAIR! So much freaking rockstar status!
I loved all of their flowers from George Thomas Florists. The colors were freaking fabulous! This is how you do a rainbow wedding!
Their first look was so sweet. I loved seeing Alan's reaction to seeing his beautiful bride for the first time. You can tell their perfect for each other. Everything felt so relaxed, even their portraits.
They had a beautiful backdrop off over 2,000 hand folded paper cranes in all colors of the rainbow. Stephanie admitted it was a bit of a "middle finger" to the Indiana government for all of the RFRA laws that took place near their wedding day. Since they were both avid LGBT supporters they wanted to make sure that these feelings were represented in their wedding day. I think they pulled it off beautifully. I wish I had a curtain of colorful paper cranes just chillin' in my house. Seriously, it would make me happy on a bad day. This needs to happen.
And naturally, I used the paper cranes as an awesome spot for their ring photo. This photo kicks butt. And I don't care what anyone says!
They had such a sweet little wedding party. With party members traveling from all over the U.S. It was so great to see everyone join together, at even such an early hour, to celebrate for their friends.
They ended the morning and moved into the afternoon with a simple and sweet reception filled with brunch, mimosas, Bloody Mary's, cake, and Cards Against Humanity. It was definitely a fun day and I loved being there for my couple! I know they had a great time in Ocho Rios, Jamaica!
Thank you to my couple, Stephanie + Alan. You guys were amazing and so awesome to work with! I loved being with you on your day and having a great time together. Thank you for being unapologetically yourselves. It shines through on your special day and I wouldn't have it any other way! I wish you both all of the happiness in the world!
