Brown County State Park Engagement Session // Sarah & Steffan

Fall leaves, beautiful scenery, and the cutest little tomato skirt you’ve ever seen!

I knew right away that when I booked Sarah + Steffan’s engagement session last September that Sarah was going to be dressed in just the cutest little outfits! Considering that she runs a fashion blog and Instagram called Indy Dressed it was definitely likely that she was going to look super fabulous! (And you should definitely check her out and follow her!) So when she was texting me pictures of this adorable little tomato skirt I was super excited! I love it when my clients text me their engagement session outfits! It opens the conversation about what to wear for photos and helps put them at ease with the ever stressful question of, “What the heck are we going to wear!?”

Sarah + Steffan met at Ball State in 2010 right after Sarah returned from studying abroad in Japan. Everyone assumes that because of their mutual love of Japanese culture they would have met in a Japanese class! Due to a scheduling snafu, however, they actually met in a Communications class! It was meant to be because about five years later we met in the beautiful scenery of Brown County, IN to photograph their fun and quirky love for their engagement photos. They were so fun and so adventurous hiking through some crazy trails to get to some sweet photo spots!

We started our session in the cute little town of Story, IN. Outside of the Story Inn we got some great photos. And if you haven’t been to the Story Inn let me tell you, they have some delicious food! For reals, get the Story Fries. They sound weird but they are DE-LIC-IOUS! Sarah + Steffan were such naturals and so cute together! We also walked around the back of the inn where they have this super awesome barn that they hold weddings at! I loved all of the paths surrounded by flowers and the greenery!

After we finished up in Story we went into Brown County State Park. People think Indiana is flat as a pancake. And while most of Indiana is, we do have SOME more hilly areas. Brown County State Park has tons of these beautiful look outs looking over all of the hills and trees. It’s downright beautiful. Plus, when you put a super sweet couple in love in front of it, the world is just a better place!

Incase you didn’t know, there is a BEAUTIFUL wildflower field inside Brown County State Park. So we ventured into the flowers an got some ridiculously adorable photos.

After a quick costume change Sarah + Steffan adventured into the woods to dance and walk through the beautiful scenery! Plus, there is this beautiful lake along the trail where the sun sets on it and yeah. Beautiful. Love it!

We walked around in the woods until the sun was gone and then we finished up the session. It was so much fun working with them and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this year!
