Falls Park Pendleton Spring Sunset Engagement Session // Kaitlin & Nick
“We’re all a little weird. And life’s a little weird. And when we find someone who’s weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” // Dr. Seuss
I’m pretty sure mutual weirdness is the common factor that the three of us all bonded over during Kaitlin + Nick’s engagement session through Falls Park and Downtown Pendleton. (#WeirdosForLife!) It was so much fun hanging out with them on that crisp and cold Sunday. The weather had a chill but the sun drenched the town in beautiful, golden, warm light. And you wouldn’t know it was cold because Kaitlin and Nick snuggled up in each other’s arms and made it look like one effortless evening.
Kaitlin and Nick met in the recreation center at Ball State University back when they were in college. Admittedly, Kaitlin said she was excited to have engagement photos done because they hadn’t had any photos taken of the two of them since college! As a photographer... I’m sure they saw my jaw hit the floor. I probably take photos of my hubs and I once a week! Either way we had a wonderful time walking around together and taking photos. And I think the proof is in the photographic pudding.
Kaitlin and Nick had decided that they wanted to do their engagement session in Pendleton because they saw other sessions on my blog and social media in Pendleton. Because I live out here I see tons of cool photo locations and a lot of people don’t even know it exists. I love Falls Park, especially at sunset. So I’m really glad we were able to make some time to be there.
Kaitlin had one request, a piggy back photo of the two of them. Which I was happy to oblige, because I love me a good piggy back photo.
Also, let’s take a brief moment to recognize that Kaitlin is definitely marrying Superman because Nick looks like Clark Kent! Especially in his (fairly new) super slick Ray Ban glasses. He’s going to make one handsome groom!
This is my favorite spot in Falls Park at sunset. The sun comes through the trees and just makes everything gorgeous.
We finished up at the park and did a quick car costume change and made our way into Downtown Pendleton. Which is pretty much around the corner. Actually, it’s within walking distance. I just loved the look of Downtown Pendleton for their dressier outfit. Brick roads, tree covered sidewalks, small light drenched alleys. It’s just such a versatile cute little town.
I don’t know what it was about that Sunday but Downtown Pendleton was practically a ghost town, even for cars! I never get a chance to get a “middle of the road” photo through the main road of Downtown Pendleton but this night I got to. I was pretty excited! I think this photo is super fun.
The light in this photo is seriously everything. This, ladies and gentlemen, is why I like to shoot at sunset.
The last place we stopped was my favorite little brick road in Pendleton. But what caught Kaitlin’s eye was a cute little yellow house on the road with a white picket fence. I loved it just as much as she did so I made sure to set them on the stoop of the fence entrance to get a cute photo of the two of them before we finished.
Thank you Kaitlin and Nick for giving me the opportunity to photograph your engagement session and ultimately your big day! I can’t wait to document your extra special day in July! I know we’re going to have a wonderful time together. And mutual weirdness abound!
