Downtown Indianapolis Central Library & Monument Circle Engagement Session // Jeniene & Aymen

“I fell in love with her courage, her sincerity, and her flaming self respect. And it’s these things I’d believe in, even if the whole world indulged in wild suspicions that she wasn’t all she should be.” F. Scott Fitzgerald

I’m always thrilled when I have the chance to work in the beautiful Indianapolis Central Library. The beautiful floor to ceiling windows pouring in natural light and all of the old architecture in the old portion of the library. It seriously gives me all of the warm, happy, photographer feels. I don’t get a lot of opportunities to photograph in there but it’s always the first place I recommend when a client wants an indoor photo location. Especially if they love books. (That just makes it a double win!) When I was told that Jeniene currently lives in Las Vegas and they were wanting to do their engagement session as early as possible. Which meant winter in Indianapolis. So we decided on the Central Library with a short bit outside at the beautiful Monument Circle. It was just perfect.

Jeniene and Aymen met online last year and between Aymen’s silly sense of humor and Jeniene’s laid back and loving personality it’s no surprise that they fell in love so quickly. You can see how much fun they have together. I can’t wait to photograph their big day and see more of their love and personalities unfold in front of my lens!

Even though it was cold outside, and the library was a little crowded we had a blast hanging out together for their engagement session. And Jeniene was the true hero of the day braving the cold Indiana in January weather to have engagement photos on the circle. She’s used to Nevada weather but she still managed to look beautiful while freezing!

I always like to start my engagement sessions on the top floor of the library. There’s tons of natural light and rows upon rows of books. There’s also typically fewer people up there so I feel like we’re not disturbing people as much. Jeniene and Aymen rocked this floor with their love, laughter, and adorableness.

My favorite part of the library though is definitely the old portion of the library. I love the giant chandeliers that hang over the stairs to the upper balcony. Always great for a beautiful wide shot. Be still my old architecture loving heart.

Before we left the library we passed the children’s section and I fell in love with these egg chairs. I don’t know if it’s the modern aspect of them or the fact that they remind me of the movie Men In Black but I still loved them. These two embraced my weird ideas and let me do some fun pictures with these chairs and they totally knocked it out of the park.

Especially Jeniene in all of her beauty. Effortlessly looking comfortable in these awkwardly shaped chairs! Haha!

Whenever I'm finishing up at the Central Library I always take my clients outside to get some photos on the steps of this beautiful building. They both braved the cold for one shot without jackets. Rockstars these two are.

After a quick costume change and a quick little drive we made our way to Monument Circle for a few more photos and a few shots outside. Snuggled up, of course.

After the cold was a little too much to bear we made our way inside the South Bend Chocolate Café on the circle for a little bit of hot chocolate and warm conversations. The beautiful thing about hot chocolate is it keeps you warm even after you leave the cozy café.

We finished the session surrounded by the beautiful twinkle lights around the circle filling the area with laughter and smiles.

Thank you Jeniene and Aymen for having me to photograph your engagement session! I had so much fun spending the evening with you. I can’t wait for your big day in August! I know we’re going to all have a blast together with my epic jokes and your ridiculously fun personalities!
