Carmel High School 2017 Seniors :: Kristin + Phoebe
We do not need magic to change the world. We carry all the power we need inside ourselves already. We have the power to imagine better.” - J.K. Rowling
A couple weekends ago I spent a magical Saturday with two very amazing high school seniors photographing their senior portraits. We had a wonderful time traveling all around Carmel from the Arts + Design district to Cool Creek Park. The two of them came prepared with two absolutely adorable outfits and fun props. Including a yellow vintage VW Bug convertible! When you have two step-sisters that have birthdays only a month apart it only made sense to have their photo session together. Despite the heat these two gals rocked out some amazing portraits and I’m so excited to share them with you!
Kristin
First up is Kristin. Kristin is an avid reader and participant in Carmel High School’s color guard. She’s a sweet gal with a fun personality. She rocked out her senior portraits with a smile on her face and some grace in her step. I can’t wait to see what amazing things will happen for her in life.
Kristin’s dad was so gracious to bring along his vintage bug for photos and it was the perfect addition to her photos. The vibrant yellow color really brought out the summer factor of our portraits. It was easily one of my most favorite additions to the photo shoot!
Can there be brightly colored walls at every senior portrait session I do?! Because I was pretty much in love with this brightly colored garage door in the Arts + Design District of Carmel.
I told her this photo granted her model status for. sure.
As I mentioned before Kristin is a very avid reader. When we were looking for books to bring to her photo session she literally showed me to a TUB of books she had. This was of course in addition to the bookshelf she also had full of books. Her step-mom gave her the 20th Anniversary Edition of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon that she’s been reading to use for photos as well. Such a cool addition to the photos.
Creek photos are always my favorite. Any client who is willing to get in or near some creek water is officially my BFF.
Plus, can we talk about this sunset business?! I’m all about it.
Books, on books, on books, on books.
I don’t know about you guys, but if I could spend my day laying in the back of vintage bug reading a book, I totally would. And I don’t even read that much! These last photos of Kristin in the back of this bug seriously make my photographer heart happy. She looks so stunning laying back there. #ModelStatus girl.
Phoebe
Next up is Phoebe. Phoebe is in the Carmel Greyhound Marching Band. She had dedicated many hours and probably a ton of sweat to practicing and performing with her mellophone. Phoebe is a bright and charismatic gal with an infectious smile. I’m so looking forward to seeing where life takes her, and which of the six colleges she’s applying to she will attend!!
Obviously we had to get both of these girls in the vintage bug. And I am obsessed with the results from both of them. They both had such different photos but they’re both so great!
Phoebe really wanted to find a way to incorporate her music and mellophone in her photos without just holding her instrument and smiling at the camera. She came up with the ingenious idea of using her mellophone case as a suitcase and I’m obsessed with the results. So stinking cute!
Orange garage doors for days. Such a fun pop of color!
Phoebe really wanted to have photos in the woods near the creek. I’ve already mentioned how much I love creek photos so when she said she wanted to take her shoes off and get in the water my photographer heart sang. Not to mention, how adorable is she?!
Open fields at sunset are pretty great. And Cool Creek Park as awesome tall grass and flowers with the sun setting behind them. It’s absolutely beautiful.
Alright y’all, prepare for one stunning girl. This is definitely my favorite photo of Phoebe from the photo shoot. I don’t know what it is about this photo but I’m all about it.
Final photo from the shoot. This is one of the last frames I got and I feel like it’s a perfect photo of exactly who Phoebe is. Smiling, happy, and bubbly. I love the car in the background and the sunset light. Pear-fect-o.
Thank you Kristin + Phoebe for letting me document this momentous point in your life! I can’t wait to see where life takes you both and what paths you will take. You are both amazing, beautiful, intelligent girls and I know you have so much wonder ahead of you!

Beautiful subjects and suberb photography!!
I've know Lil & Andy (Mom & Dad) for 20 years. I've watched these kids grow up and I just love these pictures. The essence of who they are was captured so well. I love that Kristen is carrying books because she's always reading and she's so stinkin' cute!
Phoebe looks great too, I just loved her hair. And I love how her mellophone was included. Too bad you couldn't get any pictures of her playing it, but I'm sure Andy has tons. Lol
